CANADA Customs Fees and Duties
Any orders (even gifts) to Canada valued over CA$60.00 from the USA are subject to customs duties, taxes and brokerage fees which the recipient (customer) is legally responsible for paying. We cannot determine in advance what these charges will be, as duties, taxes and brokerage fees on items shipped to Canada are established by Canadian Customs at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
All items or orders imported by individuals into Canada are subject to any or all of the following
- GST (Goods and Services Tax)
- PST (Provincial Sales Tax)
- Customs Duty
- Brokerage Fees/Surcharge
GST & PST will vary based on the province to which the items are shipped. The duty is determined by the declared or insured value of the merchandise and the import classification rate determined by Canada customs. Brokerage fees or surcharges are imposed by the courier company (e.g. Canada Post, UPS, Fed Ex etc.) to process your package through Canada customs. Please contact your local customs office to determine the exact customs costs that may apply to you. It is your full responsibility to verify the customs duties, charges and procedures prior to placing your order.
Important Note: The recipient (customer) is responsible and legally obliged to pay any and all customs duties, taxes and/or brokerage charges that are incurred on the package you receive. Acceptance of a package and refusal to make payments on any levied duties, taxes and/or customs charges may result in Canadian customs contacting Shimmer & Stone. To comply with customs regulations, we will charge your credit card accordingly for the outstanding payments plus any interest or penalty that may apply.
Regarding Returns: If you are returning any merchandise please be advised you are responsible for all shipping charges and any levied duties, taxes and/or customs charges that may be incurred on the package. Prior to processing of your return, these additional charges will be subtracted from your total and the balance will be refunded to your credit card.
